Footy Card Condition
A cards condition is an important factor in determining its value.
Because footy cards are made of cardboard, they can be easily damaged. Many collectors like to have cards that are practically new. These are cards that are in perfect or mint condition. The closer to mint a card is the more valuable it is.
For a card to be mint condition its edges must be perfectly straight, its corners sharp and pointed; not dull or rounded. The surface of the card must be untouched, with no finger prints, scratches or printing errors. Slightly worn corners, frayed edges, printing marks and light surface scratches are all considered minor imperfections and will affect the value of a card.
Major imperfections are things such as severe corner wear, water stains, rubber band marks, smudges, sun fading, creases, tape, writing, or tears and they will instantly lower the value of the card as will signs of fading or other damage.
To ensure your cards stay in mint condition I suggest you read our section on investment protection which includes some great tips on how to keep your cards from getting damaged accidentally.
All cards shown in the Footy Stars store are in mint condition unless specified. Click here to visit the store and see for yourself. |
