High End Investors in Football Cards
High End Footy Card Investors are rare, mainly because it takes a fat wallet (and an understanding wife) to be classified as a high end investor. These guys have huge collections of Footy Cards dating back many many years.
This is their hobby... and they're good at what they do.
High End Cards
A high end card is one which is extremely scarce, and as the name would suggest, it takes a lot of money to collect these cards. Cards in the high end classification include Signed Case Cards, Hall of Fame Signatures, Brownlow Medal Winner Signatures, and League Legend Signatures. The price on each of these cards is usually well over the $200 mark and sometimes up to $2000 per card.
If you're interested in taking a look at some of these high end cards (and their price tags) click here for AFL and click here for NRL to visit the Footy Stars store to see what's available.
Master Sets
Extremely dedicated collectors are known as "Master Set Collectors". These collectors try to collect every card issued by the manufacturer in a given series, including promo cards, redemption sets, all insert sets and even the cards issued for completing a box survey, such as the Centre Stage cards issued by Select in their 2005 Power series.
Master Set collecting is probably the most challenging of all types of collecting and boils down to what the hobby is all about. Make no mistake, Master Set collecting is tough, it requires long hours, and these days can be very expensive. |
